The first Casper Network X Space of 2025 shed light on the transformative developments and innovations underway in the Casper ecosystem. As always, the session brought together key voices from the community to discuss progress and exciting developments on the horizon.
Matt Schaffnit, Casper Association CEO, talked about Casper’s direction, growth, and priorities. Michael Steuer, Casper Association President & CTO, outlined progress on Casper 2.0, upcoming launches, and new integrations. Lorenzo Stroe, founder of CSPR AI, shared exciting developments around their AI Agents marketplace and its connection to Casper’s roadmap. Maurycy Konopacki, Co-Founder of Tubbly, highlighted the app’s gamification features and plans to bring Web3 to the masses.
Matt Schaffnit began his words with a big thanks for the resilience and determination of the Casper community. He stated that Casper is at a turning point, “It’s truly incredible how quickly environments can change, and I truly believe brighter days are ahead for our network and the ecosystem,” he added.
Matt emphasized the importance of fostering an inclusive and value-driven team environment to achieve Casper’s full potential. “Looking ahead, we are committed to delivering on our aim to make Casper the premier community-driven blockchain network,” he said and provided updates on the concrete steps Casper Association has taken on this goal.
The Casper Association has successfully transitioned to a community-driven blockchain, with three on-chain votes already completed: Onchain Voting System for Validators, Testnet Incentive Program, and Casper Association’s Delegation Policy.
Matt added that more on-chain votes would follow and proceeded to outline Casper Association’s restructuring: Ecosystem, FinOps, and Engineering. This restructuring has streamlined efforts to prioritize core and ecosystem development.
Casper 2.0 is slated for shipment in March. Matt also teased the upcoming launch of RWY Protocol and Router Protocol in early 2025, which will introduce liquid staking and new multi-chain capabilities to the Casper ecosystem. Looking further ahead, the Casper Association envisions rolling out a lending protocol and exploring zero-knowledge offerings.
“One thing’s for certain, the implementations rolling out in Q1 set the stage for the ecosystem to begin truly harnessing DeFi on the Casper Network as well as to better leverage its feature set which includes a modular architecture, upgradable smart contracts, and instant finality,” Matt said.
Beyond upgrades, Matt emphasized Casper’s focus on real-world use cases. He emphasized that the Casper Network is well-positioned to be a dominant venue for Cryptographically Secured Property Rights (“CSPR”). “We are exploring applications in intellectual property rights, real estate finance, and algorithmic smart financial contracts, “ he said. “Our passion for algorithmic smart financial contracts hasn’t subsided, either, as our relationship with the ACTUS Foundation continues to grow,” he added.
He concluded his words with an invitation to the community: “With CSPR as the driving force, we are building the infrastructure for a new era of economic prosperity, and we’re excited to have you along for the ride!”
Michael Steuer provided detailed updates on Casper 2.0 and the broader ecosystem.
The Casper 2.0 branch was successfully merged into the main development branch in December, effectively marking the completion of Casper 1.x development.
The rollout began with DevNet, a closed beta environment where nightly performance and functionality tests have been conducted by the core engineering and testing teams. A small group of ecosystem partners has also tested their tools on DevNet.
“I’m happy to report that for all recent testing runs, results have been satisfactory, with all metrics running within the expected norms,” said Michael.
The next phase is upgrading the Integration Network which is closer to an open beta environment utilized by a larger group of third-party developers. The upgrade is expected by the end of next week and will coincide with the release of the CSPR.suite by MAKE, which includes updates to 31 components, apps, and libraries.
“You will be able to use CSPR.live on the Integration Network, and if you’re a developer you can start using the CSPR.cloud API with your applications on Integration Network” said Michael.
After gathering feedback from the Integration Network, the team will proceed to upgrade Testnet to ensure a smooth transition for developers before the Mainnet upgrade is finalized.
Casper 2.1 will introduce a new execution engine that adds new developer capabilities. Monthly developer preview sessions will begin this week to showcase these new additions. If you are a smart contract developer or simply have an interest in the latest innovations coming to Casper Network, you can join the Developer Preview on January 30th.
Additionally, Casper SDKs have been redesigned for backward and forward compatibility. “One of the goals I set when I joined Casper as its CTO, was to ensure that the 2.0 upgrade would be as seamless as possible, and make it so that there is as little as possible risk of any breakage of key apps post upgrade,” said Michael. “You could upgrade the SDK today, and it would continue working against Casper Network 1.x, and when Casper 2.0 launches, it continues working the exact same way,” he concluded.
The team is also upgrading token standards; CEP-18 and CEP-78, ensuring compatibility with the 2.0 release. The updates will be available to the community in February.
On the wallet side: Casper Wallet is ready for Casper 2.0, an update will roll out in the coming weeks.
We are working with Zondax on a Casper Ledger App update to ensure full compatibility with Ledger Live.
MetaMask Snap is receiving an overhaul to enhance UI/UX and support Casper 2.0, expected to be completed next week.
Michael shared exciting developments across the Casper ecosystem.
RWY Protocol: Native liquid staking functionality is progressing smoothly, with staking, unstaking, and rewards successfully tested on DevNet. RWY Protocol is on track to launch alongside Casper 2.0. “While there is work to be done, around the product, the front end, and further iterations of the smart contracts, it seems that the major hurdles have passed successfully, and this project is going full speed ahead. We’re excited to see it launch alongside Casper 2.0,” said Michael.
Router Protocol: A cross-chain bridge connecting Casper to 30+ networks has completed its security audit and is undergoing final updates. It is expected to launch in parallel with Casper 2.0.” They also have already been testing against Casper 2.0 in the meantime,” announced Michael.
CSPR AI: AI Agent functionality is being developed exclusively on Casper Network. CSPR AI’s cross-chain token, AIAGENT, has gained attention from exchanges around the world. “I had the pleasure of getting a demo and insights into their roadmap last week, and I’m very excited about what’s to come,” said Michael. Later, Lorenzo from CSPR AI joined the call. You can learn more about CSPR AI below in the recap of his updates.
CSPR.Shopping: A new cashback feature integrated into the Casper Wallet enables users to earn CSPR on purchases from major retailers like Alibaba, Instacart, and Expedia. “These are basically free CSPR tokens. So make sure you update your Casper Wallet,” said Michael.
Wise Lending & RedStone Oracles: Wise Lending, a major player in DeFi liquidity, is integrating with Casper, supported by RedStone’s price oracles.
“Since lending and leverage are key components of a flourishing Web3 ecosystem, we could not be happier to welcome the biggest name in that space, Wise Lending, to Casper Network,” Michael said.
A new token minting dApp is in development in collaboration with Friendly Market, allowing users to create tokens on Casper with instant liquidity options.
CSPR.fans Season 3 is set to launch in mid-February with enhanced mini-games and a larger prize pool. Stay tuned for more updates on season 3.
Michael announced that the Casper Association is revamping its marketing strategy, working with new agencies and revising internal processes ahead of Casper 2.0’s launch to attract and educate both users and builders.
Finally, he thanked the community for their continued support and encouraged developers and ecosystem participants to stay engaged as Casper 2.0 approaches its highly anticipated launch.
Lorenzo Stroe, Founder of CSPR AI shared insights into the progress and vision of their project. CSPR AI has been under development for the past three to four months. “We are focusing on building a robust platform with a dedicated team of blockchain and AI developers,” said Lorenzo.
A key highlight of CSPR AI’s roadmap is the upcoming launch of a fully-fledged marketplace for AI personas.
“You will be able to create, customize, and evolve AI personas, even basing them on famous individuals. These personas will feature customizable stats and appearances, integrated with AI-generated visuals, and can be minted as NFTs on the Casper blockchain. Once minted, they can be transferred or sold on the marketplace,” explained Lorenzo.
The platform currently allows users to generate tweets and post directly to Twitter. Future updates will expand functionalities and further integrate these tools with the CSPR token.
Lorenzo emphasized that they are committed to growing the ecosystem. He also expressed excitement about Casper 2.0, which includes features like liquid staking and high APR rates, making it an attractive option for institutional and retail investors. He is confident the update will attract significant new users and further strengthen Casper’s ecosystem.
Maurycy Konopacki, Co-Founder of Tubbly, introduced the mobile app, which is designed to encourage healthier lifestyles. Available on the Google Play Store and App Store, Tubbly encourages users to walk more by rewarding them with tokens that can be redeemed for prizes. The concept is quite similar to Pokémon Go, but instead of catching Pokémon, users collect tokens on a virtual map.
Users can check token hotspots through the app’s interactive map. These tokens can be exchanged for rewards such as Apple Watches, smartphones, kitchen appliances, audiobooks, or digital gift cards like Amazon vouchers. Tubbly also features monthly leaderboards, with the top three users receiving additional prizes, showcased on their social media channels.
Tubbly also serves as a bridge to onboard traditional Web2 users into the Web3 ecosystem. The app integrates multiple blockchains, allowing users to learn about crypto wallets and transactions while participating in airdrop campaigns.
The built-in Casper Wallet enables deposits, withdrawals, and private key exports. Maurycy also highlighted Tubbly’s transparency: “Every activity is logged on Casper’s blockchain, and can be inspected on the CSPR.live block explorer."
Casper and Tubbly are collaborating to organize a token airdrop, where tokens will be collectible through the Tubbly map and directly stored in Casper Wallet. “Further announcements will be made at the Next Block Expo in Warsaw on March 18th, where Tubbly plans to reveal new campaigns and features,” said Maurycy.
That’s a wrap for this recap! Be sure to join the next X Space in February to stay updated on Casper 2.0 developments and the exciting expansions shaping the Casper ecosystem.
