Welcome to the recap of the latest Casper Association Developer Community Call. This month’s call featured Ralf Kubli, Casper Association Board Director; Mel Padden, Head of Developer Relations for Casper Association and David Hernando, Software Engineer at MAKE. The call delved into details about the upcoming Condor release, Odra Framework, and CSPR Suite solutions.

This recap is intended for those who missed the call or would like to revisit it and be provided with the latest updates on Casper.

Condor Release and Ecosystem Updates

Ralf commenced with a highlight on the Condor rollout. “The teams are focusing on the deployment and implications of Condor, ensuring a seamless introduction of the release while updating components across the network,” said Ralf.

He also provided updates from the Casper ecosystem, including progress on grantee projects that promise real value and infrastructure enhancements. “These projects are nearing completion and await final communication,” he announced.

After Ralf’s brief introduction, Mel took the stage to deliver updates regarding Developer Relations (DevRel) at Casper, emphasizing the importance of the Condor release. “The rollout will follow a staggered schedule to ensure compatibility of smart contracts and dApps with Condor,” he said. Mel also noted that the early stages would focus on mitigating potential issues and ensuring a smooth transition for developers.

Condor Microsite

Introducing the Condor microsite, Mel noted its importance as the go-to resource for anything related to the Condor rollout. The microsite includes introductory documentation, FAQs, and application forms for specific needs. The site is found at condor.casper.network, serves as a central hub for all Condor information, helping validators and developers understand the new release’s details.

To support developers, DevRel is producing a series of how-to articles and guides addressing common concerns. For instance, a highly anticipated article about testing smart contracts against a local net is in the works and will be published soon, announced Mel.

Functionality Enhancements and Deprecations

The state_get_item function on the RPC deprecated 16 months ago, will be temporarily reintroduced due to community demand. It allows for key functionalities pending a permanent transition to the query_global_state method.

A migration guide is being created to assist developers in moving to the new method.

Odra Version 1.1 Release: All You Need to Know

“The good folks at Odra have released version 1.1, creatively named ‘The Phantom Menace.’” said Mel.

The release is packed with key updates.

Core Updates in Odra 1.1

The release introduces support for the CSPR.Cloud’s alt token, broadening its utility and integration capabilities.

Developers can now create an address from a string using a new metaphor address feature, streamlining certain workflows.

The new implementation includes a reverse lookup feature for CEP-78, making it easier to reference and manage addressed data.

You can find the comprehensive release notes detailing these updates on the GitHub repository and the official Odra documentation,

New Odra Tutorials

A set of new Odra tutorials has been published and made accessible through the Casper Developer Portal. These tutorials are designed to be user-friendly and provide step-by-step guidance, making it simpler for developers to harness the full potential of Odra’s latest updates.

The Odra team has been working diligently to ensure seamless integration with existing systems while introducing new features.

This update is crucial for maintaining synchronization with the broader ecosystem's evolving needs, particularly as Condor rolls out.

Updates from Make

David Hernando from Make discussed updates on various SDKs and products:

SDK Updates: Efforts are underway to update go and C# SDKs to support Condor, ensuring minimal impact on application developers, and facilitating a smooth transition.

CSPR.Cloud Integration: Ongoing changes are being made to integrate Condor with CSPR.Cloud to make sure all functionalities align with the new version of Casper.

Product Suite Enhancements: Updated versions of products such as CSPR.Click, CSPR.Live, CSPR.Wallet, and others will support Condor’s new transaction model.

CSPR.name

The team is finalizing smart contracts integral to CSPR.name, targeting an end-of-Q3 launch. CSPR.name aims at making name tokens available on the D3 marketplace and ensuring their functionality across various platforms and APIs. Integration with CSPR.Click, CSPR.Live, and CSPR.Wallet will enhance accessibility and usability, allowing seamless integration into developer applications.

CSPR.Build Console Enhancements

The latest version of the CSPR.Build Console is evolving into a fully self-service portal. You can now upgrade plans effortlessly, maximize throughput, parallel connections, and persistent web socket streaming.

Ledger Support in CSPR.Wallet

David concluded with the announcement of Ledger support in the CSPR.Wallet. You can now connect your Ledger devices via Bluetooth or USB, a functionality currently accessible on desktop and browser extensions, with mobile application support forthcoming.
